JOY in Our Garden: Fixing and Helping
JOY in Our Garden: As I watched cardinals, robins, sparrows and more visiting our feeding stations today I found myself thinking of ways to “help” them. It’s freezing cold out there. Freezing rain and snow have taken turns falling all day. Should I erect an umbrella over the feeder? Open the patio door and invite them in? Build a huge covered feeding station? I admit it. I am a “fixer.” I take JOY in fixing and helping.
Today the weather, birds and squirrel situation reminded again that some things we just can’t fix. Sometimes what we think is broken – isn’t! I can take JOY in knowing that there are times I can help, like filling bird feeders with seed, doing acts of kindness for people, but ultimately it is not always my responsibility to fix everything. God has other helpers besides me and He has everything under control. What a weight off my shoulders! With JOY in your heart throw off the weights that you mistakenly carry.
